Scorsese Said So. No, Really.

The Sun recently ran quoted remarks by Martin Scorsese to the effect that Scorsese was interested in working with Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films).

Among other things The Sun quoted Scorsese as saying, “I would have no issues in casting him as a gangster, he is a very talented young man.”

The item was run by Cinematical and other blogs, including this one.

Turns out Scorsese has not even seen the Harry Potter movies. He says, quote:

“With respect to the Harry Potter films, regrettably I’ve never seen them and therefore am not able to discuss them or the performances of the talent in them in any way.”

Maybe I'll start making up quotes by Hollywood directors. I could use the heat. Naw. We got The Sun for that.

The source for the new statement attributed to Scorsese? A little rag called The New York Times.
