Sedaris On Letterman

You can tell he's nervous -- Sedaris has done tons of public readings but not much national TV -- but he still brings the house down. If you'd like to hear more here's an NPR collection, including the perennial fave 'Santaland Diaries' -- an absolute must-listen. If you haven't read him, I can highly recommend.

Vanity Fair Shoot

I posted a link to this video earlier but now it's available on YouTube so I'm putting it up. These girls are funny.

Bitch Is The New Black

Hillary should send Tina a thank you note.

Stranger Than Fiction

The Bank Job

That's Jason Statham in 'The Bank Job'. Did you know this movie is based on an actual robbery that took place in 1971 in London? NPR talks with director Roger Donaldson about what parts of the movie are true -- the very stuff you would think was dreamed up by a creative screenwriter.

Ridiculous, But Good

Here's another look at 'Wanted'. First trailer was ridiculous and dumb. This trailer is still ridiculous but very, very good.

Funny Movies This Summer

I like this formula from this NYT story:

"Multiply the number of big laughs in the movie times $10 million, and you get the ultimate domestic box office," Mr. (Thomas) Pollock said. "Ten big laughs, $100 million."

He should know, he's a showrunner at Montecito Picture Company -- the guys that made 'Old School' and the upcoming 'Old School Dos'.

Funny Girls

Vanity Fair April Cover

Here's VF's April cover by some photog named Leibovitz. From left to right are Sarah Silverman (who I feel certain has a crush on me), Tina Fey (a mutual friend told me she likes me), and Amy Poehler (we were married just a couple years ago [sorry Sarah and Tina]).

Okay, here's a behind-the-scenes shot by Kathryn MacLeod of the so-called 'funny women'. The sophisticated one (without the rubber chicken) is Leibovitz. More pix by MacLeod.

Here's a making-of video -- it's funny as hell. The April issue of Vanity Fair, gonna be good (not like the last one).

Very, Very Steep

Ingrid Backstrom

NPR runs a cool story about the extreme skiing movie, 'Steep', centering on Ingrid Backstrom (pictured) [6 min 40 sec]. Check out the three clips halfway down the page. Backstrom rips -- she's got more balls than most guys.

'Steep' is one of those docs that's more compelling than most feature films -- you can hardly take your eyes off the screen. I admire these guys. Here's the trailer.

Here's an interview with executive producers Kayce Jennings and Tom Yellin.
