Okay, according to Marc Malkin there may be a Les Grossman movie in the works. When asked backstage at the MTV Movie Awards (where Grossman and Jennifer Lopez took a turn on stage), Tom Cruise came back with:
"We're working on it," he beamed. "Yup, we're working on it."
Great news. Grossman has been everywhere you look lately, and I think he's more popular than Tom Cruise himself, right now.
Cruise's image is still in need of a little patch-work and a Grossman movie could be just the ticket. Although, judging from the comments on Malkin's blog, people are split about watching Grossman in feature-length dose, saying he's funny only for a few minutes and when you don't expect to see him.
May be true. Les seems really sharp for a couple minutes but I'm not sure that would hold for an hour-and-a-half. Maybe he should team up with someone like Ben Stiller as in 'Tropic Thunder', or, surround himself with comic talent in an ensemble piece.
Unfortunately, there's still a lot of TC aversion out there. It would be a shame if that was transferred to Grossman as well. I'd go with the ensemble idea. After all, don't actors typically start with bit and supporting roles before they carry a picture by themselves? I wouldn't call Les Grossman A-List just yet.
