'Straw Dogs' One Sheet Way Too Cerebral

It may pay homage to the poster for Peckinpah's film with Dustin Hoffman, but this won't appeal to audiences today.

May need to take another route. Wouldn't be surprised if we saw a more conventional look in future posters.

Too conceptual. Need a more literal approach -- something easier to get. Something that says 'guy defends home against thugs' not 'man's true nature, which was previously hidden, revealed when facade of civility is shattered (by forces outside his control)'

Of course, trailers play the most important role in getting butts in seats, but leave this poster like it is and audiences will pass at the theater (in the lobby, where posters are more important), catch something else.

Make no mistake, I like it -- a lot -- but this is a no fun, head-scratcher, makes you think until it hurts, box office squelching poster.

(UPDATE 11:26) I've changed my mind. I hate this poster. It stinks. Don't know what I was saying. Image inside broken glass reminds me of B-horror, like a bad guy in the latest haunted house psych-schlock. Too much negative space on left side. The up-the-nose camera angle, simply, does not work. The tagline: 'Everyone has a breaking point' is cheap, way low-budget B straight to video. The line is dead, moreover it's repulsive. It says 'You can't possibly be thinking of paying money to see this movie. Can you?'

Don't know what I was thinking. Should have actually looked at the damn thing.
