New Trailer for 'This is 40'

Okay, whatever. I don't like comedies so don't listen to me, but I watch this, stare at this, and don't think it's funny, not really -- but, that's normal for me. Means nothing. It should mean nothing. Not to you.

Okay, it's funny, but in a distant way. I'll go that far. Funny but distant. Like muffled laughter heard through the wall. You know something was funny, and hearing the laughter is uplifting, but you don't know what the joke was. But, it's still funny on some level. You sit there listening to the people one room over, one apartment over, one life over, and you know something is funny, you just don't know what. Maybe you smile a little. Maybe your mood is lightened by just that much. You're happy for them. That's not a bad thing for a movie to make you feel. Is it? Nah.

One thing about 'This is 40' I'm interested in is Megan Fox. I know, I know, she's taken a beating but I like her acting, her ability, think she has something to offer. She's brassy but honest. She looks good (no, not that way, but yeah she looks good, but I mean her performance is good, what little we see of it) in this trailer. Really, I think Fox could turn out to be an essential element for comedies. A foil for other actors/characters to work against. An actor/character that brings the others to life, makes everything a bit better, funnier. People will say about some random movie down the road, "Yeah, it was good. It has Megan Fox! Everybody else is funnier when Megan Fox is in a movie."

I'll give it this. The movie has a very polished look. Nice as it looks it's almost too deliberate, though. Like there's a metronome ticking and everything is synched to its perfect beat. Every bit falls into its slot just so. Technically very good and nice, but with a too pure rhythm. A tad mechanical? No, it's not that bad. I wouldn't go that far. Just very controlled. Funny and controlled. Not stiff, just...I don't know. Don't listen to me. I don't like comedies.

'This is 40' is funny but perhaps just a smidge too properly put together. That's not a bad thing. Is it? Nah.

Posters That Make You (Meaning Me) Think -- 'Friends with Kids'

The first thing I know after looking at this poster is 'I gotta see this movie', and right away I'm like 'what'?

I mean, I don't watch this kind of thing. There's some people, some have kids, there's issues related to having kids, lots of talk about having kids or making babies loaded with subtext and pop references, funny situations loaded with subtext and pop references, several scenes in restaurants and bars (drinks in hand) where they talk about having kids and how their lives are so very different (in a funny way) than when they didn't have kids, a character with no kids who everyone envies except he/she is not really happy but only kinda happy and wishes he/she had kids of his/her own even though he/she can see how messed up the lives of the people who have kids are, and in the end everyone learns lessons about what's really important in life (both theirs and those who either do or do not have kids)...not so much for me.

So, why do 'I gotta see this movie' again? Because of Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig. They've become must-see since 'Bridesmaids'. Plus, there's Megan Fox who I like and think can do good work, despite all the bloggers that tell me otherwise. She's up in Judd Apatow's 'This is 40' next, so -- come on. Plus, she plays a character named Mary Jane in this movie. Really -- that's got to mean something.

At this point I will see any movie with Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig. That may change, it's got to change -- at some point. However, it may not. It may never change. Movies with these two funny, smart, believable actors may forever be must-see. We'll see.

For now, we have this poster. The check box thing is kinda clever, you gotta admit. Admit it!

Megan Fox and Vin Diesel Hottest Hollywood Stars on Facebook

Who knew?

According to FilmIndustryNetwork Fox and Diesel have over 25 million Facebook fans each. More than any other Hollywood actor. Seriously, who knew. Johnny Depp, by comparison, has just under 6 million fans on the site. However, if you hit Depp's page it's just a place holder -- there's no content, just his picture and some basic background -- but so is Diesel's (but he's got no background, nothing, just a picture). Go figure.

And people are knocking Megan's career... Next up for her is 'Friends with Kids' with Maya Rudolph, John Hamm, Adam Scott, Ed Burns, and Kristen Wiig. Not sure you could do better after 'Bridesmaids'.

After that Fox has 'This is Forty' written and directed by Judd Apatow with Leslie Mann, Paul Rudd, and Albert Brooks. Um...yeah.

Not bad. Pretty good. She's doing fine.

Clip from 'Passion Play'

Lots of buzz both ways on this. I think most of the negativity is residual from the 'Transformers' fallout. Whatever. Here's Megan Fox, holding her own looks like, with Bill Murray.

Starring Josh Brolin (and Megan Fox)

I saw a trailer for 'Jonah Hex' on TV last night. Nothing special about it except, at the end, the voice over announces the movie as 'starring Josh Brolin'. No mention of Megan Fox even though she was in the same shot when Brolin's name was announced.

I realize there is fall-out from the 'Transformers' thing, but is Fox such a persona non grata they won't even say her name during a trailer?
