ILM does 'Rango' Right

Cnet on ILM's (Industrial Light and Magic) work on 'Rango' from storyboard through digital layout, early rendoring, then final rendoring with texturing/lighting tweaks.

Here's what director Gore Verbinski was looking for:
"He wanted to be able to smell the breath of the characters," said Kevin Martel, the film's associate animation supervisor. "The feeling was that if you were to take a deep breath, you'd inhale all that dust and dirt, and you'd probably start coughing."

I'd say they got it. 'Rango' is the best looking animated movie I've seen.
