Carlsen, nineteen and from Norway, is currently the highest ranking chess player (FIDE Elo rating 2826). Considered a shoo-in as the next world champion. His play is a combo of the smooth positional approach of Capablanca and Karpov, with the dynamic piece play of, say, Fischer or Kasparov. Nicknamed 'The Mozart of Chess'.
Carlsen secured first place at Nanjing with one round remaining.
