'The East'

Was surprised to see Ellen Page is in this movie. While 'The East' seems just the kind of movie Brit Marling does -- threaded with the not-so-obvious -- it's the opposite of what Page usually does -- typically, direct and front-loaded.

Marling has yet to do a project that appeals to me, but Page always does. So, I'm a bit torn.

Looks like a fair movie if you can get past the dramatic device of having another planet Earth appear in the sky. It's a bit too convenient for me.

Clip is good. The man (don't know his name) delivers. Brit Marling's performance, though, takes me out of the moment. Dialogue has a couple soft spots.
