New (Green Band) Trailer for 'Ted' Featuring a Real Living Mark Wahlberg

I don't get it. I can't comprehend this. Will this play? The Teddy bear is real? People will want to see a movie with a Teddy bear that is a real living being? And Mark Wahlberg can walk and talk, too? I just don't get it.



Probably won't play well at theaters but will do great on TV/rental.

'No Tell Motel' Trailer/Poster

Love that title. That's a good one. Do you say it, "No Tell Mo-Tell"? I think so.



Set for release February 2013, currently in post-production. Why a movie like this needs a year of post I don't know. It may just be they missed the release window for B-horror (Jan. through March) and need to sit on it for a year.

In the meantime, I'll keep saying no tell mo-tell just for the feeeeel of it.

A Cold Slap in the Face

'The Cold Light of Day' campaign hobbles along. Currently rolling out in Europe, building up steam for a September 7 US release. Flick goes unchallenged that weekend -- a good thing. Tonally, though, hard to see who this will appeal to. It's sort of 'Bourne' real, but doesn't have that level of polish. It skews more 'Salt'-esque but with sillier action that can't be considered plausible even within the scope of an action movie.

Okay, fine. But, check out this clip:



That ain't 'Bourne' level action and it ain't 'Salt'-esque. That's more of a Batman thing w/o the fancy once-removed-from-reality cape and suit. Here's a regular guy jumping off a roof with a rope tied around his waist (to keep him from hitting the ground)... Uh, like, that would hurt. You wouldn't get up and run away after that. Clip is, fairly, a slap in the face.

Sept. 7 CLoD will be the only movie opening but will go up against 'The Bourne Legacy' in its 6th week. Yeah, it'll be 6 weeks old, but the point is nobody will be in the mood for CLoD with TBL still playing (which it probably will, at least on a few hundred screens). CLoD will also go up against 'The Expendables 2' in its 3rd week -- much more direct competition that fits squarely with genre fans -- and 'ParaNorman' also in its 3rd frame.

The week after 9/7 CLoD will get blown away by a slew of strong titles, 'Resident Evil: Retribution' most notably.

Not sure who this is for. With Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver, however, CLoD has to at least be fast-forwarded through. I'll get the disc from the $2 bin and look for the good parts.

Actually plays better than that scene with Jason Statham and Clive Owen in 'Killer Elite'. Wha? This is more believable. Scarlett Johansson totally shows the guys up. Fuh... Take that Jason.

Tom Hodge's Poster for 'The Weather Outside'

From Hodge's blog:

• I was going to angle the whole poster but it seemed too much so i kept it along the top to with the effective line break in the tag line, too really emphasis that and for the title, which i based off an amazing old 1920's hand painted french type catalog, i was going to go for a classic script style but it looked too derivative of the film noir style, so i looked towards a more modern sans serif type with a 3D feel to lift it out and away from the main image. 

The split tagline is a good touch. Nice. Far preferable to the first poster:
