Spanish Poster for 'The Watch'

I always thought trailers for 'The Watch' should have been more direct about who/what the guys were up against. I didn't even realize there were alien invaders until the second trailer rolled out.

With the title change and all they should have just put their cards on the table. I'll bet it would have gotten more butts in seats. This poster is how the US campaign should have gone -- very clearly outlining what's going to be in the movie.

Maybe overseas biz will save it.

3 Clips from 'The Watch'

Yeah, I didn't think much of this at first. But, trailers look good, clips look good. Now, I like it. Now, I'm thinking this will do well. Now, I want to watch this movie. And, I hate comedies.

Red Band Clip from 'The Watch'

So far, this flick is batting a thousand.

Funny. Actually funny. Somebody dug around in the back of the closet, found some old funny everyone had forgotten about, and put it in a movie.

A comedy that's funny. Nice move.

Peeing in a Can Clip from 'The Watch'

Would another crew be this funny? Could they even pull it off? Really, could anybody other than Vince Vaughn do this without looking twisted?

Repugnant Smart International Trailer for 'The Watch'

Why are international trailers always (always) better than the domestic fluff Hollywood pawns off on us? Hmm? Why? Why is that. Tell me.

This trailer makes you hate the movie and look forward to seeing it at the same time. That's good work. Nice.

'The Watch' (Finally) Gets a Winning Trailer

Okay, first trailers searched for focus while, for some reason, trying to downplay the alien invasion element. It didn't work.

Then came the title change to sidestep events in the headlines. First trailers for 'The (Neighborhood) Watch' had the same feel and, with the redacted title, you just felt like someone was pulling the wool over your eyes. That didn't help.

New trailer, though, plays. This is funny. This clicks. Now I want to see this.

'Neighborhood Watch' Becomes 'The Watch', Loses Shots in Cars, Gets Awkward Red Band Trailer

Yup. The word 'Neighborhood' has been excised from the title. And, now the trailer has no shots of the guys actually in the car patrolling the neighborhood. They're shown having just gotten out of the car with the car parked, closing the door, near the car, but not in the car.

Would imagine any shot of someone wearing a hoodie was cut from the movie as well. Any scenes with anybody on the phone while in a car have probably been cut, along with any use of the word 'suspicious' or (the newly forbidden) 'he/she/it is acting suspicious'.

Trailer is comprised of long-ish takes/scenes and plays a tad clunky. Could get worse, I'm guessing.
