Again With The Hand Coming Out Of The Mouth?

As horror movie poster motifs go, the hand-out-of-mouth thing was fresh for a day or so, which is hard to do these days. Now, though, it's just old hat.

I am looking forward to 'Hemlock Grove', though. Can't deny that.

Clip from 'The Possession'

This actually happened to me once. Yes, it was scary.

The Next Poster for 'The Possession'

This requires review. Remember the first poster for this movie?

Yeah, I know. Well, no matter, people loved it. It creeped people out. Fine.

Then, we got a more by-the-numbers graphic.

Nothing wrong with that. Weird that it's not only outside, but in a parking lot like, maybe, at the mall around 4 in the morning, or something. Plus, she's being pulled up or looks like it, anyway. Odd, strange, eerie (I guess is fair).

Now, we get this.

So, first a hand/arm comes out of her mouth, then she goes to a parking lot in the middle of the night, then...a bunch of butterflies come out of her mouth.

Makes you wonder what will come out of her mouth next.

Oh, and remember, this is 'based on a true story'. It was in all the papers. A few years back. It was quite the sensation, if I recall.

New Poster for 'The Possession'

Well, the tagline "Pray for her" isn't very inspired, but at least this graphic is less literal and a tad more, shall we say...palatable, than the first poster, which was just a howl:

I kid, however the footage looks pretty good. Plot, though, has that limp feel -- one of those where you check your brain at the door. But, does it matter for a pure-popcorn product like this? Nope.

Opens August 31 -- should be a hot day -- nice for a silly-fun movie in a too air-conditioned theater. If we're in a heat wave that weekend flick should do okay. The hotter the weather, the more money 'The Possession' will make.

Poster for 'The Possession' (Based on a True Story)

This announces it's official: Hollywood has run out of ideas -- or -- we're so stupid we'll pay to see anything.

Apparently, considering this is 'based on a true story', a man's hand/arm actually came out of a woman's mouth and grabbed her face. One day, someplace, some time ago. Actually happened... True story.
