New and Improved Poster for '30 Minutes or Less'

Okay, I trashed the first attempt. Thought it was 'bleary and meaningless'. Kinda harsh, I know. But, look at it. Plain blue background, mugshot poses, not clear what (if anything) is going on. As I said, DOA.

For the new poster they just dressed it up. It's exactly the same layout but way better. We know who everybody is, get a sense of tone and what's going on, can tell who the bad guys are. Lot easier to look at. It clicks.

In my write up of the first poster I asked: how do you get all four main characters in one shot and give them something to do while making it understandable and compelling? Pretty much, just like this:

Philip Steir Remix for '30 Minutes or Less' Trailer

I'm not a big fan of remixing. Most examples seem, well, like rip offs and don't bring a lot -- not enough to justify their existence. But, Philip Steir's remix of Johnny Cash's Get Rhythm is pretty good. This has a contemporary appeal and stands on its own as a composition. I think Cash would approve. He'd want his cut, but he'd approve.

Used in the trailer (and I suppose the movie) for '30 Minutes or Less'.

Different by just a few words and maybe a half second of footage, but much better than the US version.

How did they manage to put together such a bleary and meaningless graphic for this movie. Trailers play with a lot of snap (especially the red band). Plot is kooky fun. This one sheet doesn't have that feel, doesn't convey any of it.

Total dead fish. Then again, how do you get all four main characters in one shot and give them something to do while making it understandable and compelling? There must be something better, but this might be as good as it gets, come to think of it.

No way. This can't be best. There has to be a better option.
