Chinese Movie Patron Sues

A woman in China is suing an exhibitor and the distributors of 'Aftershocks', a Chinese movie directed by Feng Xiaogang about the 1976 Tangshan earthquake. Chen Xiaomei is claiming twenty minutes of commercials before the movie bored her and was a waste of her time and violation of her rights.

She seeks a refund and one yuan for emotional damages (a ticket costs 35 yuan).

You Will See a Conventional No Risk One Sheet

The very conventional American poster for 'You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger' completely scrubbed of anything which hints at passion so as not to offend the ultra conservative. It's like a brochure for a condo, conveniently located near shopping and the best schools.

Hurt Locker Subpeonas Issued

Producers of 'The Hurt Locker' move ahead with legal action against people who downloaded the movie from peer-to-peer sites. From CNET:

The film's producers are finally moving to acquire the names of people they accuse of sharing this year's "Best Picture" winner on peer-to-peer sites. Qwest Communications on Monday notified a customer in Denver that the Internet service provider has received a subpoena from lawyers representing Voltage Pictures, the production company that made "The Hurt Locker."

"It is our company policy to notify our customer when we have received a subpoena requesting their records in civil matter," Qwest informed the customer, who contacted CNET on Thursday and asked to remain anonymous.
